New project launched in Indonesia

You may be aware of our longstanding involvement in revitalizing vocational education and training in Indonesia for a number of years. Though it has been almost a year since we completed our last program, we’re excited to announce the start of a new project, authorized by Nuffic and in partnership with IPB University Bogor and BBPPMPV (Center for Quality Assurance Development of Vocational Education).

The program focuses on two innovative themes:

Sustainable fish farming

This aspect introduces Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology in Indonesian fish farming. Two hatchery systems equipped with this sustainable technology will be installed at IPB and BBPPMPV. Emphasizing the importance of hands-on learning, the program aims to train vocational school teachers in RAS management and operation, enabling them to construct similar systems with locally available materials. These RAS hatcheries are designed for higher production and survival rates of fingerlings, making them more economically viable for fish farmers. The systems used have already proven their quality and can demonstrate that high production is possible with proper management.

Value chain management

The second theme in this program explores value chain management, focusing on reducing losses, adhering to quality standards, and complying with regulations at the vocational training level. It explores the roles and added value of different actors in the value chain and strategies for farmers to strengthen their position within sectoral or regional constraints. A key element of this VCM program is promoting step-by-step cooperation among farmers.

We started this program in October with online sessions and will continue with follow-up activities in Indonesia and the Netherlands. HollandDoor is implementing this program together with Zone College and Has Green Academy.
