Chinese tree nursery companies visit Europe for a second time

October 2016

In the summer of 2015 a study tour was successfully organised by HollandDoor. This tour was arranged for a group of 16 top entrepreneurs from the Chinese tree nursery. The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany were visited as part of the tour. This visit was initiated by Mr. Wang Jianming of Handan CityQicaiyuanyi Landscape Engineering Co. from Hebei. Both he and the Chinese delegation were highly satisfied about the organisation of the tour, the visits and the information given. Which is why Mr. Wang requested HollandDoor to organise another similar visit for a new group of tree nurserymen. During the fall of 2016 Mr. Wang came to the Netherlands for a second time for a 2-week-visit with this new group. During their stay both the Netherlands as well as Belgium were revisited. So again HollandDoor arranged another study tour during which tree nurseries and landscape parks were paid a visit. The goal was to inspire our Chinese guests as well as giving them practical knowledge.

The 2016-delegation existed out of tree nursery companies from 6 Chinese provinces: Hebei, Xinjiang, Shandong, Jilin, Lianong and Sichuan. From the 25th of September to the 7th of October the delegation visited the north of Belgium, both the south east and the south west of the Netherlands. On top of this, a visit was paid to the Opheusden region. Moreover a visit to the trade fair Groot Groen Plus was scheduled for October 5th. A presentation was given by Wang Jianming in which he showed the latest trends and developments of the Chinese tree nursery sector. He is convinced that the Netherlands and China have much to offer to each other with regards to the interchange of knowledge as well as in the area of transacting business.

At the end of the study tour the Chinese delegation were for a second time very satisfied about the quality of the programme. There is a great interest in follow-up visits. Several of the host companies in the Netherlands and Belgium also showed interest in a return visit to China.

Tailormade study trip

HollandDoor organized, on request of Mr. Pawar, a tailor made study trip to the Dutch agriculture and horticulture during the period of 10-14 July 2016 for a delegation of the government of Maharashtra. Mr. Sharad Pawar and accompanying delegation wanted to get latest information and inspire themselves in a 3-day intensive visit program to Dutch agriculture and horticulture. They wanted to get informed about different production techniques, supply chain models, research & education which are used in the Netherlands.

The Indian population and economy are growing. However amount of available land, its fertility and sustainable usage together with availability and affordable prices of water, fertilizer are challenging topics. India has to produce more with less in coming decades to feed its population. The Netherlands has developed a very efficient agricultural sector and it contains living examples for needed further agricultural development in India. In this perspective, there are many opportunities for Dutch companies and institutes to share their technology, skills, knowledge and networks to get involved in Indian development of Agri and Food business.

Asia interested in Dutch greenhouse and installation suppliers

April 2016

Asian countries are investing in their agricultural sector and intend to develop their greenhouse horticultural sector. GPI Consultancy, who is active in the ICT offshore (out-)sourcing, has experience in doing business in Asia. Based on those activities, GPI was contacted to introduce an Asian delegation into Dutch greenhouse horticulture.

Based on this request, GPI contacted HollandDoor to organize a 4-day matchmaking at the end of March 2016. The core objective was to familiarize the delegation with Dutch greenhouse horticulture and its latest developments on greenhouse technology. Several vegetable production companies, greenhouse constructors and greenhouse installation suppliers were visited. Although the focus was on cultivation and technology, serious attention was paid to knowledge development and skills training, which are necessary to establish greenhouse projects.

The delegation was amazed by the Dutch greenhouse horticulture, its professionalism as well as the hospitality shown during the visits and the way in which Dutch companies share their information. In the coming months the delegation will fine tune its project plans and hopefully will return to the Dutch horticulture.

HollandDoor wants to thank the involved companies for their hospitality.

Chinese researchers informed on breeding of vegetables

January 2016

In January a group of researchers from China participated in an intensive training program in the Netherlands in the field of breeding, propagation and the cultivation of vegetables. The researchers came from the Henan Zhengzhou City agronomic research institute. CECEC and Lentiz Course and Consult, who organized the training program, asked HollandDoor and Demokwekerij Westland to organize a study tour for the Chinese. This tour was characterized by the wide variety of companies that were visited and the diverse presentations that were given. By doing so we were able to give a broad overview of the Dutch breeding industry.

One of the visited nurseries was Gitzels nursery, a company that cultivates cabbage plants, but also provides services to breeders. Furthermore Artisst Plant was visited, a laboratory that specializes in tissue culture of primroses and cyclamen. We were also welcomed by P. van der Geest’s nursery, who specialize  in the cultivation of tomato and sweet pepper plants. In addition to these visits, a presentation on seed technology was given by ASP Quality Support. A general presentation regarding the role of breeding in Holland was given by HollandDoor. A visit to Monsanto in Bergschenhoek for a presentation on rootstocks completed the program. Both the Chinese researchers as well as the organizers of the complete course were very positive about the diverse and informative program.
