Van Hall Larenstein and HollandDoor train Indian agricultural advisors

May 2013

The population in India is growing rapidly, causing an increasing demand for products such as cereals, rice, chocolate, flowers, vegetables and fruit. Meeting this demand requires the use of modern technologies and a more efficient production chain. Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Science, together with HollandDoor, has provided intensive, customized training to eight Indian officials from the horticulture sector.

Improvement of the position of greenhouse horticulture and Syrian refugees in Jordan

June 2017

The conflict in Syria has got major consequences for their neighboring country Jordan. Not only has the country provided shelter for an extremely high number of Syrian refugees, but the export of fruits and vegetables has also decreased dramatically. Furthermore the shortage in water, with which they have to deal with, has increased.

The Netherlands is funding a 3-year-program to improve the horticulture sector in Jordan. This project, carried out by EcoConsult in collaboration with HollandDoor, WUR-greenhouse horticulture and Bureau Leeters, has some very ambitious goals.

Te main goal is to optimize the production with a decreased use off raw materials such as water, fertilizer and pesticides. To make such a thing possible, it is important that the Jordan growers and all other people who are involved extent their knowledge about specific crops. Moreover, prospects for export have to be extended and they also want to create employment opportunities for Syrian refugees.

Through this project collaboration between Dutch and Jordan agricultural companies, including suppliers, is stimulated.

Potential Business Partners for Cadila Pharmaceuticals

April 2017

Cadila Pharmaceuticals is a Gujarat based company, which does business in the pharmaceutical and the agricultural sector. A trip to the Netherlands brought the Chairman of Cadila Pharmaceuticals in contact with several potential business partners, who could participate in the strategic ambitions of this innovative company. This intensive business match-making tour was organised, by HollandDoor, for the Indian Company who is involved with different disciplines such as research, education, tissue culture, food processing, biotechnology and more.

Strategic analysis

Before this visit, a detailed analysis of the company, its mission, their ambitions, the activities and criteria for potential partners had been executed. After making such a detailed description of the company’s profile, HollandDoor selected several Dutch companies who might be interested for this match-making activity. These companies were approached and a final list of interested companies  together with a visiting program were made for the Chairman of Cadila.

Business matchmaking tour

Over the duration of 4 days an intensive program was composed with many meetings. Even a helicopter flight was organized to travel efficiently from Amsterdam to some meetings.

During the week orders were already given to the Cadila team in India to organize a follow-up of some of the meetings. We will know next year, what the final results are of this business-matchmaking activity.

Press Release: HollandDoor supports Kafrelsheik University of Egypt to develop substrate cultivation training courses

September 2014

Kafrelsheik University, which has 25,000 students, has occupied a prominent place in the Egyptian agriculture and horticulture sector for many decades. This year HollandDoor Coöperatie U.A. and the university launched a collaboration to develop knowledge, skills and practical facilities in the field of substrate cultivation.

With a programme geared specifically towards Egyptian conditions, lecturers are receiving training for several weeks spread throughout the year, mainly in Egypt. Last week HollandDoor organised a visit to Dutch farms for the highly motivated group.

Many students, but also business people from the private sector, are educated and trained at this university. Egypt produces a lot of high-quality products but also struggles with water shortages, diseases and a lack of knowledge. By the beginning of next year the facilities on the campus will have to be adapted to provide hands-on training in substrate cultivation for course participants. Work is already on-going on a two-year Master in Protected Cultivation programme, which is due to start next year.

Photos of the first training, which took place in June, and pictures of the visit, end August, in the Netherlands are enclosed. The training courses have been made possible with financial support from Nuffic.

Agri-business in Tatarstan, Russian Federation gets inspired by Dutch Agri-business.

September 2013

HollandDoor organized a customised study programme for a one-week visit to the Netherlands at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture in Kazan. Kazan is the capital city of the Republic of Tatarstan, which is a country within the Russian Federation. The Kazan region is one of the most economically developed regions in Russia. The study programme was aimed at teaching the Kazan delegation about developments in various agricultural sectors in the Netherlands.

This successful first visit made by 25 delegates generated so much interest among the people of Kazan that HollandDoor has organized the same tour for another 15 participants.

The people of Kazan are now applying what they learned in the Netherlands to making a development plan for their region. New educational visits to the Netherlands by people from Kazan are planned for the future.
