Spotlight on Turkish female entrepreneurship in agriculture

September 2025

In mid-September we had the honour of hosting an inspiring group of female entrepreneurs from Turkey – the winners of the Women Farmers Travel Award, supported by Türkiye İş Bankası A.Ş. This award celebrates female entrepreneurship, and for good reason!

Each winner impressed us with her talent, perseverance and creativity. Among them were a young woman running a large olive production and processing business for export, as the fifth generation in her family enterprise; a cooperative leader who successfully manages a wide range of products in marketing and sales; and a beekeeper who has built a thriving business selling honey and innovative packaging materials through her 100,000+ Instagram followers.

The winners’ study tour to the Netherlands provided an in-depth look at the Dutch agricultural sector and created numerous opportunities for sharing knowledge. Together with Dutch entrepreneurs, we explored key challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, the role of government and the importance of working together. A key takeaway:
Innovation, collaboration and sustainability are fundamental to success.

The group visited inspiring locations such as Tomato World, the World Horti Center, Ijsseloord, the LTO Noord women’s group, Flower Auction, Olives and More, the Turkish Embassy, Booij cheesemakers and Hoeksche Waard Chips. Of course, there was also time to visit Amsterdam.

We look back on a week that was not only filled with learning and knowledge sharing but also laid the foundation for future business relationships – especially in the olive oil industry, where exciting opportunities for cooperation between Turkish and Dutch companies are emerging.

Finally, we invite you to watch the short video made by the award winners to capture the highlights of their journey!

HollandDoor assists with the switch from grapes to vegetable growing in Georgia

July 2016

JSC Bagrationi 1882 is the market leader for sparkling wines in Georgia. The grapes which are necessary for the production of these wines are grown by the company itself. In order to expand their company Bagrationi is interested in not only growing grapes, but also in the growing of vegetables in Georgia. This does, however, need a thorough preparation which is why the new aims are being realised step by step. Both the management and the employees are building up their experience on test-locations were they are thoroughly educated about all aspects of greenhouse growing.

HollandDoor is assisting the company during these changes and has given the management trainings about understanding, background and practical experience of greenhouse growing. This experience will help Bagrationi making this expansion of vegetable growing a success.
