A delegation from the Dikili region in Turkey, representing the Dikili Agriculture-based Specialized Greenhouse Organized Industrial Zone (Dikili OTB), visited the Netherlands from 6 to 8 May 2026 for an intensive 2½ day study tour of the Dutch greenhouse sector. The trip’s organiser, MS Tourism, had asked HollandDoor to create a dedicated programme.
The main purpose of this technical tour was to gain technical, managerial and commercial expertise to help implement best practices at Dikili OTB. By visiting Dutch high-tech greenhouses, integrated agricultural production models and agricultural clusters, the delegation could see these systems in action for themselves. This was particularly relevant as Dikili OTB is designed not only as a production area but also as a model agricultural production hub that combines production, post-harvest, marketing and export components.
Dikili OTB is a prime candidate for fostering synergy between Turkish and Dutch horticulture. This partnership integrates Dutch high-tech efficiency with Dikili’s sustainable, low-cost geothermal heating for premium greenhouse production. The Dikili region has the potential to become a reliable, year-round, low-carbon export hub for the various regional and export markets. Dikili OTB offers significant opportunities for Dutch-Turkish collaboration: Dutch companies can contribute advanced automation, climate control and greenhouse technology, while knowledge institutions can provide essential technical expertise.
The delegation expressed great appreciation for the visit and returned home with renewed inspiration and a wealth of fresh ideas.
