In mid-February 2020, for the second time, Bishoftu in Ethiopia was visited for the "Bright Future in Agriculture" (BFA) project.
The focus in the week in February was mainly on practical dairy training that teachers could offer at their schools. Q-Point, a Dutch partner, and HollandDoor explained to the teachers which dairy farm management tools can be controlled and how important recordkeeping is to be able to do this in the right way. The Ethiopian Meat and Dairy Industry Development Institute (EMDIDI) was visited a few times for practical training. Here participants learned how to collect, record and interpret data from cows. In addition, teachers also practiced giving scores for the condition of the cows. It was a very educational and practical visit! In the coming years, all dairy farm management areas will be further explored. Topics will include breeding, calf rearing, health and housing.
